Thai Slang 101: What Does “เม็ดเยอะ” (Med-Yer) Really Mean?

This word is slang, like a teenager expression, so don’t try to look for too much logical meaning haha

I’ll try to explain it in a way that’s easy to understand.

The slang word is “เม็ดเยอะ” (med-yer).

Literally, it means “many seeds.”

The word เม็ด (med) comes from the Thai phrase “หมกเม็ด” (mok-med).

หมกเม็ด means to hide or to keep something important secret.

หมก (mok) = to hide, to conceal
เม็ด (med) = the essential point / the important thing

So in this slang, “เม็ดเยอะ” (med-yer) means someone who hides a lot, keeps secrets, or has many things they don’t say openly.

Like: “You’re so secretive.

And there is also a joke:
“เม็ดเยอะ” (med-yer) sounds like a fruit with many seeds … dragon fruit.

Because “เม็ด” (med) is a word that sounds similar to “ma-led”, which means seeds.

So when someone is very “เม็ดเยอะ”, people jokingly call them “dragon fruit.”

That’s why Thai fans sometimes put dragon fruits in a basket and give them to Faye. It’s a playful slang reference.

If you use this slang, your Thai will look “advanced” immediately.

For example, if someone is hiding something from you, you can say:

👉 “เม็ดเยอะจังนะ” (med-yer jang na) = “You’re so secretive.

Translation of the conversation between Faye and fans:

Fans: “P’Faye, have you eaten dragon fruit?”

Faye: …

Fans: “Med-yer”

Faye listens to the fan

Faye: “I like watermelon.”

Fans: “We thought you liked dragon fruit… because you’re med-yer”

Faye: …

Fans: “Med-yer … you won’t tell us who our ‘daughter-in-law’ is!”

(‘Daughter-in-law’ of the fandom)

Faye smiles, flips her ponytail, and walks away.
